Motorhead: The Knitting Factory Concert House in Reno

ROCKED The Knitting Factory Concert House in Reno on Friday, January 23, 2011 to a nearly sold out crowd of young and old fans who were mostly dressed in leather.

Opening for Motörhead were Valient Thorr.

Motörhead are a British rock band formed in 1975 by bassist, singer and songwriter Ian Fraser Kilmister, known mostly by his stage name Lemmy, who has remained the sole constant member. The band is often considered a precursor to or one of the earliest members of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Usually a power trio, Motörhead had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40 chart. The albums Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and particularly No Sleep 'til Hammersmith, cemented Motörhead's reputation as one of Britain's foremost rock bands.

Motörhead are typically classified as heavy metal, and their fusion of punk rock into the genre helped to pioneer speed metal and thrash metal. Lemmy dislikes such labels, preferring to describe the band's music simply as "rock n' roll" and usually opening live shows with the line "We are Motörhead. We play rock and roll." Motörhead's approach has remained the same over the band's career, preferring to play what they enjoy and do best; their appreciation of early rock and roll is reflected in some of their occasional cover songs. Motörhead's lyrics typically cover such topics as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse, and "life on the road". The band's distinctive fanged-face logo, with its oversized boar's horns, chains, and spikes, was created by artist Joe Petagno in 1977 for the cover of the Motörhead album and has appeared in many variations on covers of ensuing albums. Also in Motörhead's line-up at the KNIT were Lead Guitarist "Phil Campbell" (member since 1984) and Drummer "Mikkey Dee" (member since 1992).

The set lasted well over the usual 90 minutes and songs included some new and old favorites.

It went like this,

We Are Motorhead, Stay Clean, Back In Line, Metropolis, Over The Top, One Night Stand, Rock Out, Thousand Names, I Got Mine, Know How To Die, Chase Is Better Than The Catch, In The Name Of Tragedy, Power, Brazil, Killed By Death, Ace Of Spades and two encores Born To Raise Hell and Overkill.

This was a very loud Rock & Roll Show as it should be and "A Good Time Was Had By All"

Blues Fest seniman dinominasikan untuk penghargaan atas

Curtis Salgado, salah satu judul tindakan untuk bermain di bulan Phuket International Blues Rock Festival berikutnya, telah dinominasikan untuk Male Artist Blues Soul of the Year pada 2011 Blues Music Awards.
Penghargaan, musik blues setara dengan Grammy, akan diadakan di Memphis, Tennessee, pada tanggal 5 Mei.
nominasi mengikuti Salgado penghargaan sebagai Artis Male Soul Blues Tahun untuk 'Clean Getaway' tahun lalu albumnya.
Selain karir dibedakan sebagai musisi blues, Salgado terkenal sebagai orang yang terinspirasi dan dibimbing John Belushi untuk perannya dalam film klasik The Blues Brothers.
Bergabung Salgado di panggung bulan depan, Mason Ruffner, seorang seniman yang telah memperoleh penghargaan dari ikon seniman Bob Dylan dan Santana.
Ruffner, dari New Orleans, yang paling dikenal karena lagu Gypsy Blood , yang menampilkan pada soundtrack magnolia Steel.
Mantan Phuket Blues Fest hebat Eric Bibb, Mitch Woods dan Charlie Musselwhite juga telah dinominasikan untuk penghargaan tahun ini.
Bibb telah dinominasikan untuk Artist of the Year Akustik dan Akustik Album of the Year untuk albumnya 'Booker Guitar'.

Phuket Blues Fest, sekarang dalam tahun keenam, akan kembali ke Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa Karon pada 25-26 Februari, dengan pertunjukan di panggung dari 18:00 sampai tengah malam pada kedua malam.

Spencer Bohren tampil Kamis malam di BB King Museum

BB King Museum senang untuk menyambut blues musisi dan educator, Spencer Bohren, untuk Indianola!

Bohren akan menyajikan dokumenter pemenang penghargaannya kinerja untuk Down the Dirt Road Blues di Sekolah Dasar dan Sekolah Menengah Merritt pada Kamis, 13 Januari 2011, serta Moorhead Middle School dan Indianola Akademi pada Jumat, Januari 14.

Museum akan menjadi tuan rumah, kinerja dan penerimaan dengan Spencer Bohren pada Kamis, Januari 13 pukul 19.00 WIB untuk acara ini akan tersedia malam - $ 5 untuk anggota, $ 10 untuk non-anggota.

Atau masuk GRATIS dengan menghadirkan tanda terima tanggal setiap saat pada 2011/01/13 dari restoran Indianola. Bohren adalah penerima 2010 dari The Blues Foundation Menjaga penghargaan Blues Alive yang mengakui individu atau organisasi yang telah memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap dunia Blues.

The Delta Flyers: Enambelas Bars

Dua belas bar blues sangat umum. Kemajuan chord lebih dari dua belas bar melambangkan musik blues - tapi ini adalah enam belas. Ketika kita melihat judul CD ini, pikiran terjadi bahwa hal itu bisa mengacu pada suatu "crawl pub" kuno Irlandia tapi mungkin melalui Delta Mississippi untuk enam belas sendi juke dan  honky tonk. Lirik ke judul lagu, trek kedua di CD, pecahkan masalah. Lagu ini mengacu pada sejumlah bar di pintu sel penjara pada  subjek lagu.

"Highway 61 Blues" membuka album dengan penyanyi / penulis lagu,  suara tenor Steve Dupree's mengungkap bahwa Jalan Pintas judul itu "Sure can be a mean old road." Enam belas Bar terdiri dari sepuluh komposisi asli. Gitaris Travis Stephenson bersama-sama menulis tujuh dari trek bersama dengan DuPree. Pengutamaan untuk perkusi, bass, dan backing vocals namun penekanannya jelas pada DuPree dan Stephenson.

The press release bills DuPree sebagai "Mississippi saksofon" player, dan anehnya di album ini, ia tidak bermain saksofon. Dia memainkan harmonika  dan menampilkan sinergi halus dengan gitar resophonic Stephenson. Dalam alunan kembali ke akar blues,  sebenarnya sebagian besar komposisi DuPree's tampil sebagai nyanyian - ada kata terlalu banyak untuk jumlah catatan dimainkan. Dia menarik it off though. Jika Anda mendengar ini dalam  rural honky tonk, sekitar tiga lembar untuk diterbitkan, siapa yang peduli?

Mitchhart’s awards termasuk “Albert King Award” untuk gitar dari The Blues Foundation; “Blues Entertainer of the Year,” “Blues Male Vocalist of the Year,” “Blues Guitarist of the Year,” “Electric Blues Act of the Year,” dan ” akustik Blues Undang-Undang Tahun “dari Musik Blues Kota. William “Big Bill” Morganfield adalah putra Legenda Blues Muddy Waters dan telah muncul dalam beberapa tahun terakhir sebagai salah satu talenta blues terbaik di Amerika. Bill telah melakukan di banyak festival utamanya di seluruh dunia dalam 12 tahun terakhir, membawa pengalaman musik murni dan bag of joy kepada ribuan penggemar musik. William “Big Bill” Morganfield, lahir 19 Juni 1956, Chicago, Illinois, adalah seorang penyanyi dan gitaris blues Amerika. Morganfield dibesarkan oleh neneknya, Verdell Clark, di Florida Selatan. Dia datang ke musik di kemudian hari, setelah pertama kali bekerja sebagai guru setelah mendapatkan gelar sarjana dalam bahasa Inggris dari Tuskegee University dan Komunikasi dari Universitas Auburn.

Banyak pria mencoba mengikuti jejak ayah mereka ketika mereka bergabung dengan bisnis keluarga. Morganfield tidak mengambil tantangan sampai beberapa tahun setelah ayahnya meninggal pada tahun 1983. Dunia Blues berduka atas meninggalnya Muddy Waters. Muddy ibarat lubang menganga di kancah blues tetapi anak yang berduka cita yang merenungkan bagaimana menangani kerugian. Bill membeli sendiri gitar dan mundur dari dunia pribadinya, berniat untuk belajar sendiri cara bermain dan kemudian memberi hormat kepada ayahnya yang terkenal itu. Memang, ini adalah awal dari Big Bill Morganfield sebagai Bluesman dan awal perjalanan blues nya….

Enam tahun yang panjang , tahun-tahun dimana Morganfield menghabiskan untuk belajar sendiri cara bermain instrumen. Ia mempelajari gaya blues di masa lalu. Kata Bill, “Aku belajar blues tradisional yang lama, lagu yang ditulis pada tahun 1930 ke tahun 1950.” Suatu malam menghabiskan bermain kecapi di Center Stage di Atlanta dengan Lonnie Mack .


DISCOGRAPHY

Morganfield recorded RISING SON (on Blind Pig Records) di Chicago tahun 1998, melihatbeberapa sesi rekaman Waters . Bob Margolin, gitaris Waters, menjabat sebagai produser dan juga tampil di album ini. Menampilkan beberapa teman band Waters ‘, termasuk; drummer Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, pemain piano Pinetop Perkins, dan pemain harmonika Paul Osher. Juga hadir bassis Robert Stroger, seorang mantan anggota band Sunnyland Slim.

Bill kembali ke Chicago pada tahun 2001 untuk membuat sophomore nya rekaman RAMBLIN’ MIND, (on Blind Pig Records) yang diproduksi oleh Dick Sherman. RAMBLIN ‘PIKIRAN menampilkan sebuah tampilan dengan Taj Mahal. Taj juga memberikan kontribusi komposisi aslinya “Strong Man berteriak” ke album.

Pada tahun 2003 Big Bill melanjutkan perjalanan blues, dengan BLUES IN THE BLOOD, (on Blind Pig Records) yang diproduksi oleh Jimmy Vivino dan Brian Bisesi. Musik, itu sangat berakar pada Delta Blues, tetapi dengan cara modern. Bill berseru “itu mewakili dimana aku sekarang dalam perjalanan saya”. BLUES IN THE BLOOD memenuhi janji kebesaran yang ditampilkan dalam rekaman debutnya. Tidak hanya fitur suara khas Bill yang berderak dan gitar slide gemilang, tetapi ia juga menampilkan sebagai penulis lagu, semua lagu ditulis oleh Morganfield kecuali satu. Disk memegang nomor satu titik di Living Blues Radio Charts selama 3 bulan.

Pada tahun 2009, Big Bill Morganfield memulai perusahaan rekaman sendiri, Black Shuck Records. Black Shuck Records didukung oleh VizzTone Label Group. CD Bill terbaru, LAHIR LOVER, dirilis 7 Juli 2009, (rilis utama Black Shuck’s) dan dinominasikan untuk Best Blues Recording Tradisional tahun 2009 oleh Chicago Blues Awards.

Heavy, man: 'Uproar' brings metal to Montage

The volume was all the way up Friday night at Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain. That could only mean one thing: The 2010 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival had invaded the mountain.
The high-octane heavy metal marathon entertained thousands of black-clad, tattooed metalheads starting in the late afternoon and carrying on well into the evening, with one volume-loving band after another taking to two stages.
Most came for the evening's big four - Halestorm, Stone Sour, Avenged Sevenfold and headliner Disturbed. Presstime prevented a review of Disturbed's show, but the band no doubt had a lot to live up to, considering the over-the-top theatrics of its counterparts.
Following Halestorm's frenzied set, Stone Sour took the stage around 7:30 p.m.
Led by singer Corey Taylor, best known for his mask-wearing shenanigans in the screamo band Slipknot, Stone Sour brings the noise with aplomb, but also knows its way around a melody.
This was evident on the band's rendition of its 2006 radio hit, "Looking Through Glass," a song that starts soft and progressively builds to a soaring crescendo. Mr. Taylor's vocals were spot-on throughout the 40-minute set, and he proved himself quite the showman with his good-natured taunting of the audience.
Avenged Sevenfold, meanwhile, began its set with a furious flurry of pyro and foreboding imagery, including a haunted-house backdrop and, most notably, a dummy hanging by a noose over the middle of the stage.


The band's performance was, in a word, intense, with plenty of guitar licks from hell and vocalist M. Shadows' guttural yelps.
The band was at its strongest on the song, "So Far Away," which was a tribute to former drummer James Sullivan, who died of a drug overdose last year.
Earlier in the day, up-and-coming metal acts Candlelight Red, New Medicine, Hail the Villian, Airbourne and Hellyeah played the festival's second stage.
"I think Hellyeah played best to the crowd," said Steve Frymoyer, 22, who came up from Reading with his friends to see the show.
After eight hours of banging their heads to the Uproad Fest lineup, Mr. Frymoyer and his pals most assured- ly made the trip home with a little ringing in their eardrums.
But that's part of the fun of these shows, isn't it?
